Clinical course and risk factors for mortality of adult inpatients with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China: a retrospective cohort study

名門医学雑誌THE LANCETより、COVID-19の排出期間の話です。
衝撃的な内容の部分を上記論文から引用しますが、

For survivors, 
the median duration of viral shedding was 20·0 days (IQR 17·0–24·0) from illness onset,
but the virus was continuously detectable until death in non-survivors (table 2; figure 1). The shortest observed duration of viral shedding among survivors was 8 days, 
whereas the longest was 37 days. 
Among 29 patients who received lopinavir/ritonavir and were discharged, the median time from illness onset to initiation of antiviral treatment was 14·0 days (IQR 10·0–17·0) and the median duration of viral shedding was 22·0 days (18·0–24·0). 
The median duration of viral shedding was 19·0 days (17·0–22·0) in patients with severe disease status and 24·0 days (22·0–30·0) in patients with critical disease status.

発熱などの症状が出てから、
ウイルス排出期間の中央値は20日、
最長37日、
亡くなった人は死ぬまで連続してウイルスが検出されています。
是非、この原著論文のグラフを見て欲しいのですが、
生き残った人で、熱が下がっても7日前後はウイルスが検出されています。
そして、発症10日前後で、敗血症、ARDSになっています。

イタリアでは高齢者は治療しないとか、人工呼吸器は使わないという話ですが、
以前にも記事にしましたが、ARDSまでいってしまったら、
病院で治療しても厳しい状況ですから、死亡者数が増えるのは当然だと思います。
